6 Cool Things You Can Do With Pinterest

Pinterest, Its all the rage.. all the cool kids are doing it.

So much buzz going on about Pinterest, its gone from a “Pint” sized offering to a billboard sized, hard to ignore daily conversation starter at the very least. But it’s for women you say! NONSENSE… no more so than E-bay… you dig E-bay right? Yeah, me too…so read on.
When approached from a utilitarian perspective, opposed to anything else, it offers not only a handy way to keep track of visual nicieties, it can move beyond becoming a simple eyecandy jar, with a little ingenuity.Let’s skip the explanation of how it works.. because really if you’re interested in it, you’ll just go and use it. Lets talk about what you can do with it and then you can decide if maybe it can be a tool that has a place in your digital life.

1)For photographers and artists, It can be used to create a “Board” of prints you have for sale… a virtual  ’ “Pin”up Gallery ’ Each image linking to a site where swooning Pinners can purchase an actual print to be pinned to their actual walls. This will be good for your websites S.E.O. as it provides more links to your site. Score!2) Have a YouTube page? Use Pinterest to pin your videos and drive more traffic to your Youtubes.

3) Use it to collaborate on an idea or project.

You can set up a “board” that allows other people that you allow access, to contribute. This means that you can work as a team to pool ideas and resources, in a visual way. Preserving links to the images and adding as little or as much information as you choose.4) Running a contest for best photo or art work? Have users “Pin” their submissions. Frees up your email, and provides a great gallery like venue where the images can be viewed and commented on. It will even allow the further spread of the contest as users of Pinterest can connect what they pin to Facebook. So each new submission will reach the friends of the “pinner” not only from their Pinterest account.. but also from another platform simultaneously. This is a good thing. You want this.”

5) Create a virtual visual archive of your blog.
Pinterst has currently 17 million viewers a week.. and those numbers are growing like hydroponic Kush in a California medical marijuana facility. FAST!
So take advantage, use your Pinterest as an archive. You can pin your posts and create categories… pretty snazzy… and its a way to generate new traffic to old articles you have just lying around!

6) Building a home… search for inspiration, pin from other websites. Make different “boards” for each room of the house. One for the garden… list all the plants and trees you wish to dollop your castle with. One for the garage, the kitchen, the bedroom, and lets not forget the “ManCave” !

Will Pinterest cure Cancer… no. Will it cure your balding… nope. Will it solve global warming… nope. Will it help make you money… possibly!  Will it help drive traffic to your website or blog? Most certainly! Will it improve your sex life…maybe…who doesn’t appreciate someone whose tech savvy and organized!!

Namaste.
